Advocacy continues with Council on traffic and parking issues.
For the past four years CCAG has been meeting with Boroondara Council to press for action on traffic and parking issues in Canterbury.
In mid 2015, CCAG consulted with the Canterbury community and local businesses to ask them what the most pressing traffic and parking issues were in the suburb. Twenty-one issues were identified and conveyed to Council. Later the same year the Council’s traffic engineers attended our Annual General Meeting to discuss traffic and parking in Canterbury and since then we have regularly met with them to keep the issues on the agenda.
We have had a number of successes but are not resting on our laurels as there are many more problems still to be resolved!
Achievements to date include:
- Super bollards installed at the corner of Highfield Road and Church Street.
- An improved Council traffic policy, that includes possibly imposing 40km/h speed limits in suburban streets.
- No right turn imposed at peak times from Canterbury Road into Highfield and Wattle Valley Roads.
If you have a particular safety issue or suggestion about better pedestrian access, traffic control, or if you wish to join the group, contact CCAG’s President John Constable on 0407 553 663 or email: email@example.com or use the website www.ccag.net.au
